Construction management software: pricing and how to choose
"How much does it cost?" is the first question anyone evaluating construction management software asks — but comparing price lists as they are almost always leads you astray. Here's how pricing models work, which costs to check beyond the fee, and a checklist to choose, with V-Site's prices in the open.
The three pricing models
Construction management software almost always uses one of these three models, sometimes combined:

The key point: management software only works if everyone uses it, workers included. Attendance and site costs are only reliable if every clock-in goes through the system. A model that charges for every extra worker pushes in the opposite direction.
Costs to check beyond the fee
- Setup and configuration: loading sites, staff and vehicles, setting permissions.
- Training: for the office, site managers and workers. Ask whether it's included and in what form (videos, live sessions).
- Add-on modules: expenses, property, business trips, vehicle integrations. Check which features you really need and which plan they're in.
- Worker users: are they included? With what limit?
- Support: response times and channels, especially in the first weeks.
- Exit: if you change software one day, can you export your data?
How to really compare offers
- Start from your numbers: how many workers, office users, sites per year and vehicles.
- Calculate the total annual cost of each offer with those numbers, including setup, training and the modules you need.
- Put today's cost next to it: the hours spent copying attendance, checking deadlines and rebuilding site costs. An hour of admin time has a precise cost.
- Ask for a demo on your real cases, not a generic presentation: a real site, a real week of attendance.
Software or Excel?
Excel has no fee, but it has a cost: time. Attendance copied from paper sheets, deadlines checked from memory, site costs rebuilt at the end of the job when the margin is already set. Add the avoidable costs: an expired compliance certificate that blocks a payment, a vehicle with an expired inspection, a worker on site without valid training.
